Donnie Joe Lainhart Obituary

July 12, 2024

Donnie Joe Lainhart, born March 12, 1960, departed this life on June 29, 2024 being 64 years of age. Donnie was the son of the late Curt and Dovie (McQueen) Lainhart. Donnie is survived by his sister Vee Comstock of Fairfield, Ohio, brother Doug (Connie) Lainhart of McKee, and his sister Gracie (Steve) Whitaker of Tyner. He was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews including his special nieces Jennifer Welch and Jessica (Jon) Madden.

In addition to his parents Donnie is preceded in death by his siblings Odell Lainhart, Claudette Sparks, Millard Lainhart, Curtis Lainhart, Patty Lainhart, Wavyleen Wells, Lowell Lainhart, Lonnie Lainhart, and Harold Lainhart.

Donnie was an outdoorsman. In his younger days, he was an avid deer hunter bringing home a buck almost every year. As he got older, his hunting style changed. Instead of bringing home the buck, he would bring home a story of a deer he had just sat and watched all day. You may have even found him with a camera instead of his bow taking pictures of wildlife or wildflowers.

In the last few years, if you needed to find Donnie, it was simple. If there wasn’t a ballgame to be watched, he would be found in Turkey Foot or S-Tree Tower driving, chewing tobacco, and listening to bluegrass music. On occasion he would run into some out of towners trying to find their first big foot sighting. Donnie would undoubtedly make up a tale and have them jumping with excitement.

Donnie was a very humble man, but a man set in his own ways. Everyone who met him instantly loved him. But they also knew that sometimes all you could say about him was, “That’s just Donnie Joe!”.

Donnie was loved and will be missed by many. He lived a quiet life with the people he loved most his sister Gracie and nieces Jen and Jes. He loved his simple life living in those Pretty Green Hills.

A graveside service was held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 1:00pm at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery for family and close friends with Bro. Charles Jones officiating. Pallbearers are Jeff Welch, Jon Madden, Scott Hurst, Thomas Gray, Slone Hodges, and Brandon Gross.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
