Dear McKee Elementary Parents and Students,

As the principal of McKee Elementary and on behalf of our staff, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you for the upcoming school year. For returning students, we can't wait to have you back. For our new students, we look forward to embracing you into the Bulldog family! We have all missed you and hope that you had an amazing summer.

The summer has been very productive for our staff here at MES. We have been cleaning, decorating, training, and planning to make this the best year we have ever had. We pride ourselves here at McKee on ensuring that our students have top-notch educators who are dedicated to providing not only the most effective instruction but also a culture of love and respect. We will miss those teachers who retired this past year, but we are thrilled to bring back some familiar faces to help fill these voids. Lynn Tutt and Lindsey Shannon will both be back with us this year, and we are blessed to have them both. We also have filled many new instructional assistant positions this summer. Without these paraprofessionals, our teachers could not do what they do. We are so grateful to have such dedicated people willing to pour themselves into our students.

I want to take a moment to stress the importance of students being at school each day and on time. Attendance is crucial to a successful educational experience. All attendance guidelines will be strictly enforced in the district this year, and I want to familiarize you with the passing of HB 611. This legislation mandates that district officials file a complaint with the county attorney when a K-5 student misses 15 days of school without an excuse. Regular attendance helps ensure that our students stay on track with their learning and make the most of the opportunities provided to them.

Public schools play a vital role, especially in communities where resources are limited like ours. Our school is committed to offering a nurturing environment that supports every child's growth. Beyond academics, we provide essential services like a free and reduced lunch program, after-school tutoring, and in-school counseling. These resources are crucial in bridging gaps and providing all students with the tools they need to succeed.

We know that our students are truly our family, and we can't express enough how excited we are to get started on another exciting new year! We strive to be a team where students, teachers, and staff all work toward success while fostering a loving and supportive community. We have high expectations of all members of our team, and through these expectations, we experience our successes and challenges together.

With that said, our team is always excited to add more players. We would love for you to join us for an Open House on August 6th from 4:30 to 7:00 PM to meet the Bulldog family and see all of the things that make our school the special place that it is.
