Jackson County Fair is Underway!
The Jackson County Fair is underway! The Jackson County Beauty Pageant is in the books! Congratulations to all the winners! The Sporting Clay Tournament, Family Fun Night and the Soap Box Derby were lots of fun new winners crowned this year. In the Sporting Clay Tournament these are the winners were as follows: Division two: 1st place Katie Bowles & Brayvan Brumback, Division three: 1st place Chad Coffey & Jason Witt, 2nd place Barrett Brown & Dylan Mounce, Division four: 1st place Wendall Holt & Kenny Brown2nd place Byron Dozier & Paula Hansford and the biggest gun (high scoring individual) was Chad Coffey. In the Soap Box Derby, J Strong Excavating upset last year’s winner (PRTC). The Fair Exhibits will be judged on Wednesday. This is a time for the community, families, friends, and neighbors to come together and celebrate. The Fair will run from August 27th – August 31st, 2024.
This year the theme of the Fair is “To Infinity and Beyond”! It is an inspirational theme that emphasizes the future, exploration, and success! This year the Homecoming Parade’s Grand Marshal will be “Cathy Howell”. Cathy has been a critical member of the Jackson County community. She is a former City Council member, a Jackson County Extension Service employee, an advocate for the Farmers’ Market, a tireless volunteer, and someone that the community can always count on. The Fair will host a great diversity of events. The festivities include(d) events such as: the Jackson County Beauty Pageant (August 17th – winners inside Fair Tab), a Sporting Clay Tournament, a Soapbox Derby, Family, Fun Night, a Comedic Juggler Kids Show, and a Karaoke Contest!
The Fair has become known for the quality musicians and bands it brings to McKee. This year these will include such as: Resurrection: A Journey Tribute, That Arena Rock Show, Joey’s Van, and Authentic Unlimited. Local artists will also perform including the winner of the 2024 Jackson County’s Got Talent competition – Renee Gabbard and Phillip Akemon & Flatlick.
