Up 50 or Down 50... Keep Your Head Up!

On the evening of September 20th, the Jackson County Generals Football Team faced off against the Lynn Camp Tigers in a game that would ultimately end in defeat but was not without its triumphs. After beginning the game with a lead, the Generals were not able to recover when they were set aback; ultimately resulting in a final score of 28-16.
After the game, I spoke with senior, Braxton Clemons about the events of the night. When I asked him `what do you feel was the turning point of tonight's game?', this is what he had to say: "I really think tonight that we had too many turnovers on offense, we had a fumble, we had an interception, and then on defense, we just couldn't find the stop and it led to more and more bad things happening. But, at the end of the day, we're just going to come back next week and work harder." His last sentence, "we're just going to come back next week and work harder", speaks abundantly to the motivation of this team. Even in defeat, they give it their all on the field. It's like Nathan `Preacher' Webb says, "Up 50 or down 50, keep your head up." These boys did Friday night.
I also spoke to Tydus Summers, another high school senior. We briefly spoke about moving forward into the rest of the season; when I asked him `what do you think we should work on moving forward into our next game?', he responded with: "Probably our defense and tackling honestly: getting lower on our tackles, our group tackling and getting to the ball."
