Hollar N Kentucky with Zack Baker & Anthony Roe

by James Jayme Marcum, General Manager

If you listen to the radio much at all, no matter the genre, there will always be some big names that are always making their way through the daily rotation. One thing that all of these artists have in common is that they didn’t start at the top. Each one has put in their time and effort to make it where they are today. Unfortunately, some of the greatest acts alive today are yet to be discovered, or at least in the mainstream. These musicians are often overlooked, but that is something that Zack Baker & Anthony Roe are working hard to make sure they get the attention they deserve.

Zack & Anthony are the founders of the Hollar N’ Kentucky Podcast. While they are all about anything and everything Kentucky, their specialty is shining the spotlight on up-and-coming musicians in Central Kentucky. Why did they start the podcast? Well, they wanted to contribute to the music scene while not necessarily being musically talented. Finding new, up-and-coming acts can be tough but they make it work. They do attend local music festivals and make some discoveries but they have contributed much of their findings to digging through social media, such as Facebook and YouTube, and looking for those artists who are not necessarily breaking records.

Music has a way of connecting people in one way or another. Music in Appalachia is a part of many lives and continues to thrive today. When the duo was asked what they believe the most important thing about a song is, they said it is the melody as it draws in the listener as quickly as 10 seconds into a song.

Are you interested in the yet-to-be-discovered artists? Do a search on your favorite streaming service for the Hollar N’ Kentucky Podcast and you will sure be in for a treat. And as always, the Appalachian Imagination Podcast appreciates your support. They ask that you download and listen as it is much appreciated. Stay awesome, Appalachia!
