JCMS Boys' Basketball Update
We have come out of another week of basketball here at JCMS; this week, we held some good wins and a few tough losses. The 6th and 8[th]-grade teams played Harlan Green Dragons at home on Monday, November 11[th], and both teams got a good win. On Tuesday the 12th, the 6th and 8th went head to head at home vs Williamsburg. The 6th had trouble making stops and connecting early in the game and was trailing Williamsburg at the half, but after halftime found a way to pull through for the win. The 8th grade came out hot and defeated Williamsburg by a wide margin. On Thursday the 14[th], we went to Barboursville with all three teams. The 6th grade lost their first game of the season by just a couple of points; they came back down from double digits but unfortunately couldn't get the last points we needed to win. The 7th grade was a close contest, with us trailing at halftime, but they managed to pull through at the end, and we came out on top by a few points. The 8[th]-grade game was cut short at the beginning of the fourth quarter when one of our boys took a hard fall and was left with a concussion. He is okay and doing better now, so we are grateful for that. On Friday the 15[th], all three teams played North Laurel at home; the 6th grade was handed their second loss of the season, the 7th grade kept it a close game in the first half but unfortunately lost the game, and the 8th grade came out with a good win against the Jaguars on Friday night.
We are so proud of all our boys for all the hard work they put in on and off the court. I would also like to take some time to recognize our coaches. We are headed by Coach Kelvin Bingham, who has a lot of years experience in coaching; he does a phenomenal job; Coach Robbie Thomas, who helps coach the 6th and 7th grades, does an excellent job; Coach Joey Taylor helps coach the 8th grade and does great as well, Coach Michael Saylor helps coach the 8th grade when he's not coaching Tyner and we appreciate all of his help, I help coach all three teams and enjoy every minute of it, we truly have a special group of boys who love basketball. Come out and support the Generals when you can!
