The Jackson County High School Lady Generals are beginning this season with a promising lineup, including an impressive group of freshmen. These ladies are very well-versed in the sport - they have and will continue to bring a tremendous amount of strength to the team. Let's meet this year's freshman Lady Generals and get to know their backgrounds on the court.
"My name is Lillie Davidson, I started playing basketball when I was eight years old. I've been on three travel teams - I started at Clay County and I recently moved to Jackson in December; playing ball for Jackson County in eighth grade, and now I play for Coach K. I have had plenty of great experiences in Jackson County and I have made so many friends since."
"My name is Rylee Bowman, I started playing ball in the second grade. I started playing because my sister always played and then I got into middle school, seventh grade year Coach K became my basketball coach when I started playing "up" JV for the Jackson County Lady Generals and I've played ever since. I've made so many great memories and friends - I'm thankful for that."
"My name is Kara Harris, I started playing basketball in the third grade and I've been playing ever since. In seventh grade I started playing up for the high school - I've made so many great friends and good memories."
"My name is Hannah Jackson, I started playing basketball when I was in the fourth grade. I've played on two travel teams - I started my high school career in the seventh grade at Clay County then moved to North Laurel for my eighth grade season. Then, recently this year I moved to Jackson County and I'm currently playing for the High School Basketball team Coach K."
"My name is Sadie Turner, I started playing in second grade. When I was in seventh grade I began playing up for Coach K."
During this group interview, each player was asked a specialized question.
Lillie Davidson is not only a basketball player, but also a devoted member of the JCHS Track & Field team, making her a well-rounded, quick on her feet, player. When Lillie was asked what drove her to become the ball player she is today, she graciously responded - "The amount of support I have gotten from not only my friend but my parents and coaches, and how they have pushed me to be the best player that I can possibly be."
Rylee Bowman is quite an admirable team player, she could be described as the definition of camaraderie. After being asked what she was looking forward to most this season, Bowman replied - "What I'm looking forward to most this season is the fun trips to Tennessee, bus rides, fun practices, doing people's hair, and all the good memories to be made."
Kara Harris is an attentive, hard-working player; she not only devotes her time to basketball but to volleyball as well. When she was asked why basketball has been important to her in other sports and how it has made her a better athlete, she responded - "It keeps me in shape, disciplined, and prepares me for the next sport - helping to keep my goals set."
Hannah Jackson is an incredibly promising player, she may be new to Education Mountain but it has already become home court for her; agile on her feet and an impressively great shot - Hannah is a great addition. During her interview, she was asked how her multi-school experience has shaped her strategic mindset on the court, to which she replied - "In my multi-school experience I have faced different coaching styles, team dynamics, player mindsets, and overall team chemistry and development."
Sadie Turner is a very open and receptive, polite player. From her mannerisms off the court to her quick thinking in the game, she is a well-rounded young woman. After being asked who has prepared her most for high school sports, Turner replied - "The person who prepared me the most for high school sports is my mom because no matter what situation she's in, she's always there to support me."
