The Jackson County Generals traveled to Beattyville to take on the Bobcats of Lee County in their season opener. The JV fought hard in an exciting contest but fell short to the Bobcats 39-34.
The second game showed early to be a hard-fought contest as the Bobcats got out to an early 6-point lead as their guards were super hot behind the arc as they knocked down 6 threes in the first quarter. The Generals showed toughness, resilience, and great team effort as they worked hard to take a 1-point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Keagan Ward and Peyton Singleton, the double-double duo, proved to be too much for the Bobcats in the paint. Senior Guard Braxton showed he could handle the pressure and set the tempo as he cruised through the second quarter, dropping dimes and taking the ball to the lane as the Generals had an 8-point advantage at the half.
The Generals came out in the third quarter determined to extend the lead as they turned up the defensive heat. Freshmans Tanseen Truett and Braxton Coyle, along with Jr. Kendell Peters, helped shut down the sharpshooters from downtown Beattyville. Freshman Wyatt Gray got a hot hand as he knocked six threes in the second half. The third quarter ended with the Generals up 14 points.
The trio of Seniors Keagan Ward - Braxton Clemons - Peyton Singleton were instrumental in pushing the lead on out in the fourth quarter as Brayden Vickers spelled the bigs for an occasional break in the action. With outstanding effort, heart, and team ball movement, the Generals were able to extend the lead in the fourth quarter to take their first Victory of the 24-25 season 88-66 on the hill in Beattyville.
