Coach Rader & Isabelle Shearer Recognized by KY Track & Cross-Country Coaches Association
The Kentucky Track & Cross Country Coaches Association has selected the All-Area 8 Cross Country First Team for the girls. Area 8 includes the following 19 counties and schools within those counties: Adair, Green, Taylor, Cumberland, Clinton, Russell, Wayne, Casey, Lincoln, Pulaski, McCreary, Laurel, Rockcastle, Whitley, Bell, Jackson, Owsley, Clay, and Knox.
The Jackson County program was recognized with the Runner of the Year and Coach of the Year. Coach Dean Rader was honored as the Coach of the Year, and Isabelle Shearer was selected as Runner of the Year!!
The Jackson County Cross Country teams (Boys & Girls) both had historic seasons in 2024.
Coach Rader and his Cross-Country teams celebrated two major victories at the 2024 Regional Meet. The Girls' team won their first-ever regional Championship, while the Boys' team defended their Regional Championship title, capturing it for the second consecutive year. Senior Isabelle Shearer led the Girls' team to their historic win, earning her the Individual Regional Champion Title for the third consecutive year with an impressive time of 19:25.53.
The Regional Championships earned both teams a trip to the State Competition. The girls' team placed 11[th], while the boys' team placed 16th overall. These are the highest-place finishes in State Competition for both teams in school history. Leading the girls' team was Belle Shearer, who finished her senior year by placing 4[th] overall with an overall time of 20:14.87. Shearer has signed a letter of intent to run for Eastern Kentucky University at the collegiate level.
