Zellma Cornelius Obituary

Zellma Cornelius was born October 5, 1928, in Laurel County and departed this life on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, at the age of 96. She was the daughter of the late Kellon & Nannie (Mullins) Robinson.

   Zellma is survived by two daughters, Brenda Sue (Charles) Lux of Ohio and Betty Jo Samples of McKee and by a brother Boyd (Christine) Robinson of Arizona. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Timothy (Mary Ann) Samples, Jennifer (Alan) Trabucco and Michelle (Mike) Mays; seven great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

   In addition to her parents, Zellma was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oscar Cornelius, by her son, Ledford Cornelius, two sisters, Velva Horn and Geneva Combs and by nine brothers, Vernon, Earl, Perry, Thurman, Randall, Wilbert, Gus, Stanley & Calvin Robinson.

   Zellma always took pride in gardening, cook and growing flowers. She was also a long-time member of the Letter Box Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025, with Bro. Shane Gabbard and Bro. Garland Gabbard officiating. Burial to follow in the Cornelius Family Cemetery. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
