Partners for Rural America Installs Book Vending Machine at Sand Gap Elementary

by Jerry Sparks, Co-Editor/Senior Reporter

Principal Daniel Muncy reported that "Exciting things are happening at Sand Gap Elementary! After a slight delay due to the extended holiday break, the book vending machine purchased by Partners for Rural Impact is now up and running, and it is awesome!
We celebrated the event by conducting a ribbon-cutting ceremony. For our initial use of the machine, we recognized students who had perfect attendance for the entire school year up to this point. These students were presented with a token and allowed to select a book that is now theirs to keep."
Mr. Muncy and Ms. Flannery helped students out as they tried out the new machine.
Mr. Muncy reported, "We are thrilled to have the book vending machine, and we really think it can be used wisely to support student success. This is just another way that Sand Gap Elementary recognizes and supports those students who are here and ready to learn.
We would like to thank the folks at Save The Children and Mrs. Sulfridge for supplying books. Working together to benefit students is our common goal."
