Judge Gabbard - Weekly Report to Jackson County

This stent of warmer weather has been a welcome site for us in Jackson County. It makes you long for springtime and the sounds and sites that come with it. 

Spring means Little League baseball and softball is upon us. I have noticed that you have the option of signing up online this year as well as some in person sign-ups. Jackson County Little League has a Facebook page that has more information about the signups and programs offered. We will post more information as we receive it about signups. 

I attended the local Unite coalition's monthly meeting this past week. The local Unite club is made up of various community members from public and private sectors. The club is sponsoring several youth-based programs this year and will be present in a lot of school supported activities. If we can reach our children before the temptation of illegal drugs does, they will have a head start on having a successful life. It's never too early to for prevention and it has to be available to every person. You can have a part in prevention by just living a good life in front of your children and neighbors. The Fiscal Court is proud to be a part of the efforts of the Jackson County Unite Coalition. 

We declared a State of Emergency for Jackson County on February 27, 2025. We decided to declare to assist in efforts to hopefully obtain funding for areas affected by the recent floods. This declaration does cover the last couple weeks of weather events. Our emergency management team has been conducting damage assessments throughout the County and believe that we will meet the threshold for assistance. If we do meet the threshold, state and federal officials will conduct onsite visits at a later date. We will update as we gain more information concerning the flooding.
