Marlon Coffey
Warehouse Materials Handler / 1st Class Line Tech
Jackson Energy Cooperative
Being a native of Jackson County, Marlon Coffey knew as a child that he wanted to work as a lineman. At 9-years-old, during the ice storm of 1998, Marlon remembers looking out the window of his home and watching a co-op crew working to put a span of wire back up – and from that day, he knew the career path he wanted to pursue.

Coffey started his career at Jackson Energy in 2012 as an apprentice and, through his commitment and determination, worked his way up to 1st Class Line Technician. Today, Marlon is currently one of two warehouse materials handlers at Jackson Energy’s McKee District. In addition to keeping the warehouse organized, Marlon continues to play an important part in assisting crews during storm restoration efforts as a dedicated lineman. He has also traveled with Jackson Energy crews to provide mutual aid assistance to cooperatives across the state and nation due to devastating storms.
His favorite part of working for Jackson Energy is being able to work for our members and make a difference in their lives. Marlon understands the commitment it takes to be a first responder and the sacrifice of spending time away from family to serve others. Regardless of the time of day or night, weather condition or terrain – it is our first responders that are onsite for storms, vehicle accidents and even house fires. Marlon understands the job at hand and his satisfaction and success come with being a part of restoring service to our members and keeping our communities safe.
Marlon and his wife, Carla, have been married for 14 years and have two daughters, Marley and
Maizley. When Marlon is not working at Jackson Energy, he enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Marlon is also very active in his community where he coaches the Jackson County Fury and Jackson County Middle School’s softball teams.
A healthy Jackson County requires great community news.
