04/16/25 Update: Generals defeat Clay Co. in second back-to-back to improve record to 14-4
Coach Bowling and the JCHS Generals played an important 49[th] District game this week when they traveled to Clay County to play the Tigers. The outcome of these games will help determine the seeding in the postseason 49[th] District tournament.
Senior Cayden Farmer was the starting pitcher for the Generals. During six innings at the mound, Farmer managed to strike out 11 hitters while allowing four walks. Ashton Clemons pitched one inning and struck out three hitters.
The Generals' bats were red hot at the plate! Tydus Summers led the Generals with three hits. Summers and Lucas Elam each scored four runs. Summers also contributed four RBI's for the Generals and collected three stolen bases.
The Generals jumped out early in the game, leading by a score of 6-2 at the bottom of the fourth inning. The Tigers managed two runs to make the score 6-4 at the top of the fifth inning. However, by the bottom of the sixth inning, the Generals took a commanding lead of 12-4. The Generals defeated the Tigers by a final score of 15-6.
Since KHSAA started keeping stats in 1998, this marks only the sixth victory for the Generals over their 49[th] District rivals. The two teams were scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, April 15[th], 2025 when the Tigers make the trip to the Generals home field in McKee. Good Luck Generals!
