James Elbert Sparks Obituary

James Elbert Sparks of Beattyville, KY was born April 4, 1953, in Lee County and departed this life on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Dan Sparks and Sarilda Burton Sparks.

James is survived by his wife of 52 years Brenda Sparks of Beattyville and by his children, Jason Matthew Sparks (Emily Smith) of Frankfort, KY and Cathy Jo Sparks (Cecil Martin) of Willisburg, KY. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, April Hudson, Brandon Reynolds, Preston Matthew Sparks, Colton Sparks, Dalton Gage Sparks, Kaytlin Rose, Sierra Jo Sparks, and Dustin Hudson who preceded him in death; and by three great grandchildren, Hayden Layne, Layla Ann and Mia Grace. James is also survived by a sister, Mary Lilly Gabbard of Indiana, and by two brothers, Roy Dan Sparks of Richmond, IN and William Charles (Marie) Sparks of Annville.

 In addition to his parents and grandson, James was also preceded in death by two siblings, Jessie Ray Sparks and Nancy Bowling.

 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Lakes Funeral Home. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com   Visitation will begin at 11 am
