JCHS Lady Generals Make History with Trip to 13th Region Finals
For the first time in Jackson County High School history, the Lady Generals fastpitch softball team has advanced to the finals of the 13th Region Tournament, marking a historic milestone for the program.
The Lady Generals secured their spot in the championship game with a 5-2 victory over Harlan Independent in the semifinals on May 28th. It was a hard-fought contest that showcased both offensive firepower and defensive grit.
Kylie Moore led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Baylee Berry added two hits, including a triple, and scored two runs.
Aubrey McCowan drove in two runs with a key hit, while Blakelynn Fee also contributed with a hit.
Moore, Lexi Brockman, and Scarlett Peel each scored a run to round out the offensive effort.
Candice Williams was dominant in the circle, striking out 14 batters and allowing just two runs in a complete game performance.
The Lady Generals' defense backed her up with a flawless effort in the field -- no errors were recorded.
In the championship game, Jackson County faced off against perennial powerhouse North Laurel. While the Lady Generals were unable to pull off the upset, the team showed great resolve and finished their season strong, capping off a historic and inspiring postseason run.
Berry, Moore, and Williams were recognized for their outstanding play and named to the 13th Region All-Tournament Team.
