JCHS Lady Generals "Candice Williams" Selected to 2025 Class 1A All State 2nd Team
Jackson County High School (JCHS) senior Candice Williams has achieved a remarkable milestone in her high school softball career having been selected to the 2025 Class 1A All State 2nd Team.
According to KHSAA statistics, Williams ranked 2nd in the state for Innings Pitched this year (34 games played, 201.1 Innings Pitched). Williams ranked #4 in the state for most strikeouts. Over those 34 games Williams struck out 287 batters. Midway through the 2025 season Williams reached a milestone 1,000 career strikeouts. This accomplishment is a testament to her dedication, skill, and hard work over the years.
Williams’s journey began as a freshman, where she quickly established herself as a formidable pitcher. Over the years, she has honed her skills, becoming a key player for the Lady Generals. Her ability to strike out batters with precision and consistency has been a crucial factor in her team’s success. Coach Gary Tillery has praised her for her hard work and dedication, stating that she has worked extremely hard to become the best pitcher she can be.
In addition to her impressive strikeout record, Candice Williams has also made significant contributions to her team’s overall performance. With Williams on the mound, the Lady Generals had their most successful season in the history of JCHS fast pitch softball, recording the most wins (24) and most home runs (21). They won the 13th Region All “A” tournament two consecutive years followed by finishing in the Elite Eight in the All “A” state tournament both years. The team won their opening game and advanced to the finals of the 2025 13th Regional tournament for the first time in program history. Williams’s leadership and skill were instrumental in these achievements.
As she reaches this milestone, Candice Williams looks forward to continuing her softball career at the collegiate level. She has recently signed with Berea College to play softball, where she will undoubtedly continue to excel and make her mark.
Candice Williams’s achievement of 1,000 career strikeouts is not just a personal milestone but also a significant moment for JCHS and the Kentucky High School softball community.
