Kentucky Office of Homeland Security Law Enforcement Protection Program Grant

by County Judge Executive Shane Gabbard

Good news is always a blessing when you live in a world that seems like it has so much negativity. We try our best at the Fiscal Court to make sure every department and office we work with has what they need to serve our citizens to the best of their ability. Grants to purchase equipment is one thing we often apply for in hopes to gain as many resources as possible for our departments.

That being said, I am pleased to inform you that Jackson County has been awarded $21,050.00 from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security Law Enforcement Protection Program Grant.

The award is for the purchase of five (5) duty pistols, five (5) duty rifles, and ammunition for the Jackson County Sheriff's office so they can better serve and protect the citizens and visitors of the county.

The Law Enforcement Protection Program is a state program funded solely by the sale of confiscated weapons received by the Kentucky State Police from agencies such as your sheriff's office.

This award allows our law enforcement to be better equipped in the case protection is needed while answering the call to service. The Jackson County Fiscal Court is very appreciative to the office of homeland security for the opportunity to be awarded this grant.

Have a blessed week
