by Jerry Sparks, Co-Editor/Senior Reporter

On July 01[st], 2025, around 5:57 AM, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle collision that occurred on US HWY 421 approximately 6.5 miles north of McKee, KY. Deputy Weaver spoke with the drivers of both vehicles.

Marshall S. Broyles, 44, of Somerset, KY, was driving north in a 2010 Ford Fusion. Broyles told Deputy Weaver that he was experiencing steering trouble with the front of his car, and as a result, he crossed the center line into the lane of traffic traveling south. This resulted in a collision with a 2016 GMC Terrain being driven by Carol Isaacs, 65, of McKee, KY.

Broyles' operator's license showed a restriction requiring an ignition interlock for the vehicle. Deputy Weaver's accident report indicated that Broyles was in compliance with this requirement. Drugs and/or alcohol were not listed as a factor causing the collision.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Both drivers complained of injuries. Both also stated they were wearing their seatbelts.

Broyles and Isaacs received first aid treatment on the scene from the Madison County EMS.

The accident report indicated that the injured were taken to the St. Joseph Berea Hospital for additional medical evaluation and treatment.

Both vehicles were inoperable and had to be removed by towing services.

US HWY 421 was shut down from 6:00 AM until 7:32 AM.
