Barnell T. Gabbard Obituary

Barnell T. Gabbard was born February 5, 1941 in Jackson County and departed this life Monday, July 7, 2025 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington at the age of 84.  He was the son of the late Earnest “Frosty” Gabbard and Sally (Johnson) Gabbard.

He is survived by two loving daughters, Rhonda (Keith) Taylor of Berea and Melony (Kelvin) Bingham of Tyner; by two grandsons, Trey (Jessica) Vickers and Tyler Vickers and by a great-granddaughter, Eva Rae Vickers. Other survivors include his siblings, Jewell Gabbard of McKee, Norm (Jean) Gabbard of Dayton, OH and Marilyn (Donnie) Colvin of Mt. Vernon; a host of nieces and nephews; by a special family dear to his heart: Jerome Gilbert, Burgoyne Gilbert, Melissa (Monty) Hill and Nora Etta Gilbert Ross and by a special friend Delores Judd.

 In addition to his parents, Barnell was also preceded in death by three siblings, Mildred Murphy, Cecil Gabbard and Ronnie Gabbard and by a long-time companion Malvie Gilbert.

Barnell graduated from McKee High School in 1960, he was also known as a great ball player and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

 Funeral services were held 12 Noon Friday, July 11, 2025 with Bro. Brian Gabbard, Bro. Tim Johnson and Keith Taylor conducting the service. Burial will follow in the Norris Cemetery. Pallbearers: Kelvin Bingham, Keith Taylor, Trey Vickers, Tyler Vickers, Jeremiah Johnson, Ron Gabbard, Sonny Gabbard, Scott Gabbard, & Mike Gabbard.
