David Wayne Parks Obituary

David Wayne Parks, (better known by his CB handle as “Rabbit Ears”), 49 of Shepherd Town, KY passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born on January 23, 1974, at the Red Bird Hospital in Clay Co., KY. He was a loving person with a quiet nature. He enjoyed spending his time talking on his CB radio late at night, going fishing, hunting and working on his little red 1990 Chevy pickup. His dog, Patches, held a special place in his heart.

David attended Burning Springs Grade School in Burning Springs and graduated from Clay County High School in 1993. He went on to pursue a career as an over the road truck driver.

David is survived by his father, Dalmon Franklin Parks; his sister, Gilberta Parks (Jason) Miller; his nephew, Cameron Berlon (Kelsey Marie) Robinson; and his niece Kelsey Dakota Robinson. He is also survived by his great-nephews, Collin Couch, Carson Couch and Oakley Berlon Robinson. Other survivors include a special friend, Rhonda Brewer; his best friend, Chris “Pigg” Gregory; and aunts & uncles, Carl Parks, Janice “Jackie” Tyler, E.G. Miller, Ronald Wayne Miller, Joyce Plymate, Gordan Miller, Patricia Goodrum, Forister Miller and Debbie Bray.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Doris (Miller) Parks and by his grandparents, Dalmon Luther & Sophia Parks and Fred & Ola Miller.

Funeral services will be held 1: 00 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Bro. Jason Asher officiating. Burial will follow in the McWhorter Cemetery in Clay Co.
