Earl J. Powell Obituary

Earl J. Powell, 84, of Richmond, KY, died Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Baptist Health in Richmond. Born in McKee, Kentucky, Earl was a retired Church of God Minister and the son of the late Walker and Dora Hisel Powell. Earl served in the Ohio National Guard, was a musician and singer who sang in a gospel trio. He enjoyed reading his Bible and fellowship.

Earl is survived by sons, David Earl Powell (Sharon) of New Lebanon, OH, Perry Whitley (Sheryl) of Shelbyville, OH, Sam Powell (Jessica) of Grand Rapids, MI, Paul Lee Powell (Rachel) of Richmond, KY, and Jimmy Robinson (Debbie) of Corbin, KY; daughters, Brooksetta LeMasters of TX, Mary Powell of Richmond, KY, Melissa Blevins (Gerald) of West Liberty, KY and Melinda Neeson of Grayson, KY; brothers, Harold Powell and Paul Powell along with 25 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

He was survived by his ex-wife Cora Nester but preceded in death by his second wife, Shirlie Powell and third wife Phyllis Powell. He was also preceded in death by sons, Gary Powell, Keith Whitley and Harold Powell; daughter, Ruth Lowe; brothers, Orville Powell, Everett Powell, Donald Ray Powell and Edwin Powell along with sister, Pauline Chitwood.

Services will be 12PM, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, Richmond, KY with Johnny King and James Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM, Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
