JCMS student Max Foster competed at the Kentucky Youth Wrestling State Championship on 2/4/24. Max earned 1st place in a bracket of 27 athletes. Max had a round 1 pin in 29 seconds followed by 1:30 pin, 1:57 pin, 3:48 pin and 8-0 major decision to win the championship. Max currently wrestles with Central Kentucky Wrestling Club in Richmond. Max's favorite thing about wrestling is making friends, he has built friendships with his teammates from other schools and opponents along the way. Wrestling offers athletes an opportunity to compete with someone their age and size. Wrestling promotes personal responsibility while being part of a team, teaches discipline, accountability and athletes develop leadership skills. Wrestlers work on balance, strength, coordination and body awareness which makes wrestling a great off season sport for all athletes and youth not currently active in sports. Wrestling is for both men and women and is currently the fastest growing women's school sport in the US.
