Orene "Gabby" Gabbard Obituary

Orene “Gabby” Gabbard, age 74, husband of Sharon Melioris Gabbard passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at his home in Berea, KY, surrounded by his family. He was born to Ora Parrett Gabbard and the late Elza Gabbard, in Jackson County, KY on April 13th, 1949. Orene was retired from The United States Air Force after serving 23 years. He served at many bases domestically as well as 4 years in England and a tour in Vietnam. Gabby was an accomplished woodworker making many pieces of furniture for his family. He also enjoyed recreational sports leagues, especially horseshoes. Gabby loved his family and took pride in making sure their needs were met. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, playing cards, and serving as the DJ at his residential summer campground in New York.

Mr. Gabbard is survived by his wife, Sharon, his mother Ora, one daughter, Michele Pekola and her husband David, two grandchildren, Jacob and Ashley Pekola and one sister, Phyllis Bullock all of Berea, KY. Several much-loved nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Friday, January 12th, 2024, from 11:30 AM until the service at 12:30 PM at Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Miller will officiate the service.
