A Night to Shine Prom Brings the Community Together to Celebrate Our Differences
On Saturday, May 11th the Jackson County Community came together to put on a prom for those in the special people in our community who have special needs. A Night to Shine Prom was a very special event, giving those in the community who might not otherwise ever attend a prom a chance to shine. Event organizer Chelsea Fox is so grateful to the community members and organizations that helped make this event possible, saying, “Everyone danced and played and ate way too much. Thank you to the families who shared your special loved ones with us. Thank you to Shane Gabbard, Lynetta Hunter, Jackson County Public Library McKee KY, Jackson County Community Collaborative, Hunter Carroll, the Jackson county extension office, Tim Truett, Melinda Cunagin and her crew, Shannon N Jimmy Lakes, Tina Ward, Letterbox Baptist Church, and everyone else who played a part in this years prom. It has been such a blessing!”
At the end of the night Prom King and Queen were crowned. This year’s Prom Royalty are Dougie Ward and Stacey Sharpe (pictured above). Congratulations to the King and Queen and thank you to the Jackson County Community for giving these folks a great evening to celebrate.
