Dwight Douglas Spurlock

Born April 6, 1968 in Tyner, KY. Dwight passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024 at the age of 56 in Winston-Salem, NC.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Amelia Spurlock; his mother, Joy Marcum; his two children, son Taylor White (Liz) and daughter Annie Haggard (Justin). Dwight was blessed with six grandchildren: Christian, Daniel, and Shawn Bowling, Isobel Gray, Isabeau and Edmée White; and one great-granddaughter, Renesmee Day. He is also survived by his brothers: Glenn Spurlock (Kim), Tracy Spurlock, and Myron Spurlock (Autumn) and sisters: Glenna Skelton (Charlie), Dellena Cook (Gerald), and Melinda Spurlock. Dwight knew and loved his host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Dallas Spurlock.

Dwight loved his family and friends so much and all were so important to him. He was a dedicated employee of The Porch Kitchen and Cantina since its inception. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM in the Viewing Room at Vogler Funeral and Cremations @ Forsyth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Graveside services will be held for Dwight on Saturday June 15th, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Gazebo at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, NC. with Steven Ferguson officiating.

Pallbearers: Taylor White, Glenn Spurlock, Tracy Spurlock, Justin Haggard, Shawn Bowling and Charles Skelton.

Honorary Pallbearer: Gerald Cook, and Daniel Bowling

Dwight and his loved ones were shaken by the cruel course of his illness, and he spoke often about wanting to support others on similar journeys, especially children.

In lieu of flowers, Dwight has requested donations to go to Atrium Health Brenner Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
