Ricky Joe Boggs Obituary

Ricky Joe Boggs was born November 8, 1952 in Lexington, Kentucky, and entered into the loving arms of his heavenly Father on June 3, 2024. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Boggs and Emma Jewal Jones Boggs.

Ricky was united in marriage to Sylvia Gale Madden on March 16, 1974.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Gale, his son, Christopher Joe Boggs and daughter in law, Andrea Brooke (Coffey) Boggs, and one grandson, Parker Reed Boggs.

Ricky was an active member of the community and served on the Jackson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Jackson County Soil Conservation Board of Supervisors until his death. He previously served on the Jackson County Water Board of Directors for many years.

Ricky had a great love for agriculture and was a very successful farmer. He cherished the land and strived to be a good steward of God’s creation. In his early years, he raised tobacco and participated in tobacco research in conjunction with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. Ricky practiced progressive farming practices and embraced new technology related to agriculture. He was among the first farmers in Jackson County to embrace hydroponic technology for growing tobacco float plants. He operated a successful business growing and selling tobacco float plants to other farmers who grew tobacco. When tobacco was phased out by the government, Ricky converted from tobacco production to raising beef cattle and growing hay.

In addition to his love for agriculture, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. He was able to provide the fish for several fish cookouts for his church and other civic organizations he was part of.

While Ricky was in Florida, he made the biggest and best decision of his life. In 2007, he made a profession of faith and accepted Christ as hi Savior at Shady Hammack Baptist Church and was baptized into the fellowship of that group of believers. When he returned home from Florida, he joined McKee Baptist Church where he maintained a dual membership with McKee Baptist Church and Shady Hammack Baptist Church.

Ricky enjoyed life to the fullest. We treasured the memories we made together as a family and with our friends. We will miss him every day but those wonderful memories will sustain us and we will rejoice in knowing that his health battles are over and he is praising his Lord and Savior in Heaven.

**Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Bro. Ron Maharrey officiating. Interment will be immediately following in the Reynolds Memorial Cemetery at Tyner, Kentucky. **Visitation will begin at 6 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Lakes Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Rodney Chrisman, Jeff Henderson, David Lunsford, Ed Hensley, Charles Rowland, and Paul Hays.

Honorary pallbearers: Howard Smith, Joe Madden, Mark Reese, Tim Hurst, Mike Smith, Larry Lakes and Don Edwards.
