Appalachian Imagination: Mountain Music

June 20, 2024

Music has been a large of life in Appalachia, beginning with the first settlers.

Though a lot of outside folks will automatically think Bluegrass, Folk, or strictly banjo tunes, The taste in music goes deeper than any holler you'll ever find. Speaking of Bluegrass this week the annual Stringbean Bluegrass festival kicks off in Gray Hawk, Kentucky. They will be featuring the world famous Larry Sparks, Jeff Parker, Sparrow Hawks, The K-Shack band, Anglin Brothers and many more. The Festival will be June 20th-22nd.

Jason and Amy, just recently played the Gemini Jam at Bash on the Branch. They shared the stage with some super talented people. Jory Bowling, Dustin Middleton, Makenna Hope, Anthony Highley, and Tina Taylor, just to name a few. If you have never been to a music festival, it is highly recommended. Festivals are a great experience and a great way to meet and make new friends.

In this episode, Justin asks a big question. Who would be on your Mt. Rushmore of all-time greatest vocalist? Opinions do vary on music as they do on most anything but we think will enjoy the debate going back and forth between the guys in this one.

Music can ease a troubled mind and bring folks together when nothing else can.
