Callie Mae Smith Isaacs Settlage, age 83, wife of Lewis Herman Settlage, passed away Saturday,December 23, 2023, at Baptist Health in Richmond, KY. She was born February 18, 1940, in Fairmont, NC, to the late Robert "Bobby" and Flay Seals Smith. Callie was very artistic and enjoyed painting on both stone and canvas; she also loved to garden. Callie enjoyed going to the Berea Senior Citizens Center and playing and was very competitive with her favorite card game, Skip-Bo. She loved to travel and was baptized in the River of Jordan in 2017. She also enjoyed visiting historical sites with her husband, Lewis. Callie was very proud of her Indian heritage.
She was a member of the Lumbee Tribe in Pembroke, NC, attending all Lumbee events when
possible, especially the homecoming in July each year. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Berea Church of God. In addition to her parents,
Mrs. Settlage was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Herbert Isaacs, in 2009, two
sons, Godfrey Isaacs and Herbert David Isaacs, and eleven siblings, Donnie, Oscar, Willie, Alex, Belton, Robert, Mary, Adell, Leola, Gollmer, and Beulah. Other than her husband Lewis, Callie is survived by nine children, Debbie (Jimmy) Rogers of Richmond, KY; Damaris Robbins of Kirby Knob, KY; Eliza Jane Isaacs of Berea, KY; Julie Ann (David) Losh of Nicholasville, KY; Joni Lynn (Willie) Hood of Marietta, OH; Charles Robert (Kimberly) Isaacs of McKee, KY; Henry Waylon (Shay) Isaacs of Berea, KY; James Joseph (Jessica) Isaacs of Wilmore, KY; and Makala Wanda Settlage (Terence) Witherspoon of Birmingham, AL. Four siblings: Marvin Smith of Pembroke, NC; Wade (Judy) Smith of Elizabeth City, NC; Margaret Himes of Joppa, MD; Cora (Jack) Stokes of Farragut, TN. Twenty-six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 28, at the Berea Church of God with
Pastor Stephen Hobbs, Bro. Larry Isaacs and Bro. Artie Alexander is officiating; you can view
the service live at www.davisandpowellfuneralhome.com. The burial will follow in the Red Lick
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, also at the
church.
