CAP Camp AJ Make Announcement for Summer 2026

Posted

The Christian Appalachian Project recently posted a letter on their social media site saying that “Due to unforeseen circumstances”, they regret to inform everyone that they will not be offering residential (overnight) camp at Camp AJ this summer.

They will, however, be participating in multiple summer school opportunities in their service area. In addition, they will offer three weeks of self-transport day camps and distribute “Camp in A Box” activity packages for 400 campers, ages 6-14.

Camp AJ Summer Day Camp – Co-ED (Boys and Girls), ages 6-14, will be June 15-18, 2026. Boy’s Week (ages 6-14) will be June 29 – July 02, 2026. Girl’s Week (ages 6-14) will be July 20 – 23, 2026.

Jackson County “Camp in a Box” Pick-Up will be on May 11th from 3 PM – 6 PM at the McKee CAP Office. The “Camp in a Box” will include a Camp AJ Sticker, a Camp AJ Water bottle, Sunglasses, a Bracelet Making Kit, a Foam Craft Kit, a Tye Dye Kit, a Camp AJ T-Shirt, Bubbles, Chalk, Water Balloons, Wooden Craft with Paint, and Play-Doh.

They reported that they remain dedicated to their campers and families. Their employees and volunteers are committed to continuing to provide creative, engaging programming, and look forward to having children join them this summer for their day camps. They promise exciting details will be coming out in April, so watch their social media pages for more information soon.

Christian Appalachian Project’s summer camps have been serving children in Appalachia for more than 40 years. They appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as they work to address these challenges, and they are sorry for the added uncertainty this may have caused. They wished to thank everyone for their support over the years and look forward to serving families in the future.
