Carolyn Gabbard Roberts Obituary

Posted

Oh, the transporting rapturous scene that rises to my sight-- Sweet fields of radiant living green and rivers of delight! (Adapted from a hymn by Samuel Stennett, 1787).

Carolyn Maude (Gabbard) Roberts stepped into sweet fields of radiant living green on Monday, June 17, 2024, perfectly healed and whole.

She was born February 23, 1947, in Oneida, Kentucky, the eldest child of Hershel and Delsia Gabbard of McKee, Kentucky. She was predeceased by her parents, her infant sister Phyllis, her young adult brother Anthony, her husband of 35 years David Roberts, and her special friend Charlie Bill Collins.

Carolyn was a gifted caregiver, neighbor and friend. She took excellent care of ailing humans and four-leggeds with kind hearted tenderness. She was a wonderful cook, sang beautifully, and held a wide variety of interests that made her a life-long learner. Her smile was sweetest sunshine and she never met a stranger.

Carolyn leaves two daughters, Denise McKinney (Ray) of Berea and Tammy Jones (Danita) of Lexington, and their families to honor her memory. She will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Jackson County at a private family service.

Denise and Tammy would like to sincerely thank the excellent staff at The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Berea for their dedicated and loving care of our mother. Also, the superb staff of Hospice Care Plus made this holy and horrible journey a bit easier with their ministry of compassionate service at the end of Mom's life. Mom also received excellent care from Horizon Adult Healthcare and Visiting Angels of Richmond when she was able to be more independent. We suggest donations and support in Mom's honor to any of these worthy groups. We will appreciate their kindness forever.
