Earl Powell was born on March 9, 1949, in Sandgap, Kentucky. He peacefully departed this life on July 27, 2026, surrounded by his family in his home in Sandgap, Kentucky. He was 77 years old.
On October 29, 1972, Earl was united in marriage to Marilyn Powell (Jones)
Earl worked as a drywaller for many years, before retiring. He loved spending time outdoors, watching wildlife, and gardening. He especially enjoyed relaxing at home and watching television. He will be remembered for his humor and the care and kindness he showed toward the many pets that shared his life.
Along with his wife, Marilyn Powell, Earl is survived by two children, Misty Powell (Tim Marcum) of Sandgap, Kentucky, and Randall Powell (Tabitha) of Berea, Kentucky. He was blessed with one granddaughter, Allie Marcum, of Sandgap, Kentucky.
Earl is also survived by one sister, Janette Brown, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
Earl was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Powell, and his father, Albert Powell. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Dale Powell, Audrey Brewer, Sylvia Rose, Russell Powell, Floyd Powell, Edith Hopkins, Emma Sowder, Roy Powell, Cecil Powell, and Pauline Powell.
Services for Earl will be held Lakes Funeral Home at 1 P.M. on Thursday July 30, 2026, with Bro. Johnny Isaacs presiding. Burial to follow at ED Durham Cemetery.
A visitation will begin at 11 A.M. at the Lakes Funeral Home Chapel in McKee.
