Edith Collett Smith, age 89 of Annville, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her residence. She was born August 26th, 1936, in Leslie County, KY, to the late Claude and Linda Jane (Slusher) Smith.
Edith is survived by her 2 daughters Rita Hatfield (Lynn) and Lisa Anderson (Bill), all of Annville, and the following stepchildren: Edna, Maxine, Brenda, Tina, Michael, Steven, Mauldie, Linden, and Debbie, as well as two brothers, Raymond Smith (Nancy) and Kenneth Smith (Janice). She was also survived by seven grandchildren: Christi Collett, Edith Michelle Hensley (Shawn), Julie Stith (Ben), Joe Collett (McKenzie), Jessica Shearer (Russ), Brian Anderson (Jatana), and Jonathan Anderson (LaTasha). She was blessed with twenty-four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Collet,t and then later in life by her second husband Walter Edward Smith, as well as her son Don Collett, step daughter Jeanice Smith, three brothers Vernon, Lonnie, and Homer Smith; two sisters Gail Sue Asher and Janet Slusher and one grandchild Don Roy Collett.
She was a member of the Annville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services for Edith Collett Smith will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Brother Jonathan Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Collett-Smith Cemetery in Leslie County. Pallbearers: Joe Collett, Brian Anderson, Austin Gray, Connor Hammons, Ben Stith, Russ Shearer, Shane Hensley, and Luke Hensley. Honorary’s: Kenneth and Raymond. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral.
