Eva Viola Isaacs, age 83, of Kerby Knob, Kentucky, passed peacefully at her home on September 21, 2026.
Eva Viola Isaacs, born Eva Viola Sebald, was born on October 21, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Leonard and Thelma Sebald. Though she was born and raised a city girl, Eva eventually made Kentucky her home, where she built a beautiful life centered around the two things she treasured most—her faith and her family.
Eva was a Christian whose faith in Jesus was an important part of who she was. She had a kind and caring heart and believed deeply in treating others with kindness. She was known for her positive outlook on life, always believing that tomorrow would be a better day and often saying, “Lord’s willing.” No matter what she was facing, she rarely complained and could almost always be counted on to say that she was doing just fine.
Above all else, Eva loved her family. She devoted much of her life to raising her children and caring for those around her. She also loved music, singing, dancing, roller skating, the ocean, and spending time at the beach, which became one of her favorite places to get away. Those who knew her will also remember her love of Hershey’s chocolate and root beer, and the simple joy she found in being surrounded by the people she loved.
Eva is survived by her sixteen children: Darrell and Tisha Isaacs, of Pasadena, Maryland; Brenda Walker and Larry Miller; Dreama and Harold Durham; Wilma and Ivan Davidson; Madeline Isaacs; April Hobbs; Henrietta and Keith Davidson; Christopher Isaacs; Herman Isaacs; Donna Taylor; Estes Isaacs; Cindy and Dewayne Townsend; Judy and Wallace Conner; Janet and Terry Murphy, all of Sand Gap, Kentucky; Patricia and Wade Strunk, of London, Kentucky; and Leonard and Ashley Isaacs, of Sand Gap, Kentucky.
She is also survived by her honorary son, Leon and Mary Jo Isaacs, of Pasadena, Maryland; her siblings, Leonard Sebald, Margaret Chubb, and Chester Sebald, all of Maryland; and a large and loving family that includes 36 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Isaacs; her infant son, Doyle Isaacs; her honorary daughter, Dorothy Abner; her grandson, Barry Hobbs; her granddaughter, Chrystal Isaacs; her sister Pat Rife and her son-in-law, Melvin Jones.
Eva leaves behind a family that is immeasurably larger because of the life she lived and the love she gave. Her kindness, her strength, her unwavering positivity, and her devotion to her family will continue to live on through the generations that follow her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral Services for Eva will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Isaacs and Bro. Mitchell Davidson presiding. Burial will follow in the Red Lick Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Larry Miller, Ivan Davidson, Harold Durham, Keith Davidson, Dewayne Townsend, Wallace Conner, Terry Murphy, and Wade Strunk. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
