Pastor Everett Smith, age 75, of McKee, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2026.
A devoted pastor, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Everett lived a life guided by faith, service, and compassion. For many years, he faithfully served his church and congregation, dedicating himself to sharing the Gospel and helping those in need. Through his ministry, community outreach efforts, and unwavering commitment to others, he touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on his community.
Known for his strong work ethic, Everett spent many years working in construction while also answering his calling to ministry. He believed in lending a helping hand to those in need and quietly worked to make life better for the people around him. Whether through his preaching, his example, or his generosity, he demonstrated the values of faith, perseverance, kindness, and service throughout his life.
He was a loving pastor, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, family member, and friend. His life was a testament to the strength of his faith and the depth of his love for his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ora (Cunigan) Smith; his children, Rachel (Smith) Barrett, Calista Smith, Regina Smith, and Justin Smith; his grandchildren, Larry Ryan Smith and his wife, Jaci Smith, Caleb Barrett and his wife, Alenia Barrett, Audrey Merritt, Avery Merritt, Alexis Harris, and Strayven Harris; and his great-granddaughter, Hazel Grace Barrett.
He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Ann Salmon, Linda Sue Prince, and Brenda Kay Peters; his brother, Kenneth Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and the countless members of the congregation and community whose lives he touched throughout his years of ministry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Smith; his mother, Liza (Arvin) Smith; his son, Charles Harris; his brothers, Hershel Smith, Odell Smith, Eudean Smith, Willis Smith Jr., Jackie Smith, and Carl "Dude" Smith; and his sisters, Avanell Wilson, Vada Jean Drew, and Fannie May Smith.
A funeral service will be held at his home, located at 1035 Huff School Road, McKee, Kentucky 40447, on May 30th, 2026 at 3pm. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate a life devoted to God, faith, family, and service.
One of the scriptures that reflected Pastor Smith's faith was Psalm 18:1–3:
"I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies."
Pastor Everett Smith's memory will live on through the many lives he touched, the people he helped, the family he loved, and the faith he shared so generously with others. His legacy of service, kindness, and devotion to God will continue to inspire all who knew him.
