Posted

Jackson County Sheriff Daniel Isaacs reported to the public that on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Jackson County 911 received several 911 calls reporting a two-unit motor vehicle collision in the 5200 block of KY290.

Emergency responders responded to the area, and observed one female patient trapped in a tan-colored Toyota Corolla with severe injuries and a silver-colored Chevrolet Silverado in the southbound culvert.

Rescue aid and mechanical extrication were performed by Jackson County EMS, the Pond Creek Fire Department, the Sand Gap Fire Department, and the City of McKee Fire Department.

According to the Sheriff’s report, the preliminary collision investigation indicates the following:
A tan-colored Toyota Corolla operated by Danielle Cox (age 35) of McKee, KY, was traveling in the northbound lane of KY 290 near the intersection of Joanie Road when it crossed into the southbound path of a Chevrolet Silverado operated by Nathan Roberts (age 19) of McKee, KY.

Due to the severe force of this collision, the Chevrolet Silverado exited the roadway in the southbound shoulder of KY 290, coming to a final rest in a culvert off the roadway, while the Toyota Corolla spun in motion before coming to a final rest at the intersection of Joanie Road and KY 290.

Major mechanical extrication was performed by all fire personnel on scene, and medical aid was provided by Jackson County EMS with assistance from a medical flight crew. Despite the immense efforts of all personnel on scene, Cox suffered fatal injuries and later succumbed to her injuries at a later time on this date.

Sheriff Isaacs reported, “We extend our deepest thoughts, prayers, and sympathies to all parties involved.”

The collision remains under investigation by Deputy Chris Baldwin.

Deputy Baldwin was assisted at the scene by Jackson County EMS, Pond Creek Fire, Sand Gap Fire, the City of McKee Fire Department, Jackson County Emergency Management, and the Kentucky State Police.
