The Jackson County Fiscal Court held a Special Meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2026, for the primary purpose of closing out the business of the FY 2025-26 and approving the final budget for FY 2026-27.
Jackson County Court Clerk, Donald “Duck” Moore read minutes from previous Fiscal Court meetings, and the Magistrates voted their approval.
Interim Judge Executive Paul Hays introduced several individuals, including newly appointed Road Supervisor, Adam Madden, the new Finance Officer, Kendra Ward, and newly appointed Deputy Judge Executive, Tony Boggs. Judge Hays informed the court and those attending that Tony Boggs will serve as a volunteer and will not receive a salary.
The Fiscal Court reviewed and approved the bills and transfers needed to close out the current fiscal year.
A new item on the agenda was the approval of a hot water heater replacement for the detention center. The low bid from Burns Piping was approved for $54,900. Interim Judge Hays explained that attempts were made to find a cheaper solution by sequencing several smaller heaters in tandem. However, the existing plumbing would not accommodate such an arrangement.
The court also approved a $1,335 repair to the air conditioning system at the EMS/Dispatch Center.
The last item on the agenda was the second and final reading and adoption of the 2026-2027 county budget. The budget was approved without changes from the version previously submitted to Frankfort.
The meeting was then adjourned.
