Fundraiser started to Help Family After Fatal Jackson County Crash

Posted

A family friend has started a GoFundMe to support the husband and loved ones of a woman who died in a Jackson County crash Saturday.

Danielle Cox, 35, died Saturday following a crash in Jackson County. Cox’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck.

Dustin Coffey, a friend of Cox’s husband Jon, started the fundraiser to help support the widowed father and his two children.

The fundraiser can be accessed at the following link:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-grieving-father-and-children

The Fundraiser states:

"Jon Cox is a devoted father of two young children who is facing unimaginable loss. His beloved wife recently passed away in a tragic car accident, leaving him to navigate life as a single parent while grieving the loss of his wife. The suddenness of this tragedy has left the family not only heartbroken but also facing significant financial challenges.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly to supporting the family during this difficult time. They will help cover the costs of the funeral, replace his car so he can continue to get to work, and pay rent while he takes time off to grieve and care for his children. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in helping them find stability and hope as they begin to rebuild their lives.

He is a very good man who loves his children deeply and greatly loved his wife. No one should ever have to go through such a devastating experience. Your support will ensure that this family can focus on healing without the added burden of financial stress. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. God bless everyone who is able to pitch in and help this family in their time of need."

“He’s crushed he lost his wife, and he’s left with a single father with two kids to raise,” Coffey said. “I couldn’t imagine being in his position.”

Coffey said he did not know Danielle personally, but he has been close with Jon for more than a decade. Both are truck drivers who often talk for hours on the road.

“We just talk all the time on the phone. We’re both truck drivers. We just keep each other awake a lot of mornings and pass long hours on the road,” Coffey said.

Coffey said those conversations have changed since Saturday, now focused on helping Jon figure out what comes next.

“It is just a very unfortunate situation. It’s affected him financially, he’s had to take time off work, and it’s just a bad situation,” Coffey said.

The situation hits close to home for Coffey, who lost his mother at a young age.

“It was horrible. It changed the whole trajectory of my life. It was a complete night-and-day change, and it crushed me for years. I still struggle with it to this day. I mean, that was my mom,” Coffey said.

Coffey said he hopes the community can help ease some of the burden for Jon and support his two children as they begin life without their mother.
