Gladys Marie Peters was born April 10, 1940, and departed this life Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Kentucky River Medical Center, at the age of 83. She was the daughter of the late Arco & Mae (Whicker) Gabbard.
She is survived by the following children, Mildred (Stevie) Marshall, Mary (Randall) Madden, Lonzo (Juanita) Peters, Iva Sue (Elbert) Hensley, Georgie (Gary) Madden, Sara (Bruce) Madden, Denver Lee Peters, Jean (Mike) Marshall, Donnie (Toria) Peters, and Anna (Sam) Asher and by someone she saw as a daughter, Donna Montgomery. She is also survived by four sisters, Brenda Silcox, Virginia McDaniel, Judy Sizemore and Alleen Wilder. Gladys was blessed with twenty-six grandkids, forty-two great grandkids and many others who she loved.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Peters; two sons, Ronnie Peters and Earl Peters; by a granddaughter, Jennifer Mead; two sisters, Geraldine Bowling and Nadine Smith; and by three brothers, Curt Gabbard, Carlos Gabbard and Bill Gabbard.
Gladys was a member of Maulden Baptist Church. She always had a smile for everyone.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Mills and Bro. Kenny Smith officiating. Burial to follow in the Hoskins Cemetery. Pallbearers: Trevor Montgomery, Jason Madden, Andrew Madden, Leon Asher, Brian Marshall, Tyler Asher, Scotty Neal & Jeremy Peters.
