Mrs. Smith’s 1st-period English class won the Red Ribbon Week door decorating prize. They based the theme on the novel they are reading, Lord of the Flies. All of her classes created microcosms of the setting and symbols in the novel along with interpretive masks.

Students in Mrs. Medlock’s and Mrs. McCowan’s senior English classes recently completed their Portrait of a Graduate projects. As part of the assignment, students reviewed numerous artifacts to identify and categorize the traits and skills essential for success beyond high school. Using Canva, they then organized and designed visual representations showcasing what it means to be a well-rounded graduate. Students demonstrated creativity and initiative as they developed unique projects that reflect both their learning and their future goals.

Jackson County High School would love to give a big shout to Richmond State Police Post 7 and all their troopers that have helped cover our after school events this year. We'd also like to thank Sheriff Daniel Isaacs and his deputies, along with the SRO, to help cover events. Officer Bryant and the city police have chipped into help as well. We're very thankful for all the Law enforcement that has worked events to ensure the safety of our students and fans during these events.

Last Tuesday, Nov 4th, JCHS hosted an open house for students and guardians to pick up 1st nine weeks’ report cards. PRI Mrs. Rose also volunteered to stay and pass out early school year reading scores . We had approximately 100 families in attendance. Thanks to all who came and to our wonderful staff for staying late to accommodate parents’ schedules. If, for some reason, you didn't get to stop by and need to speak with a teacher or meet with one of them over concern, feel free to schedule a meeting during their planning period or after school . Feel free to email the teacher or myself if you need to schedule an appointment (greg.parrett@jackson.kyschools.us)

While observing classrooms last week, I saw some great things going on in Social Studies class, where the teacher was using art drawings to tell world history events that the students had to infer and describe the meaning of each piece. I also saw some great things going on in the weight room with our weight instructor as he was doing a total body workout using plates. All of our staff do a great job each day!!

Sgt. Saylor and Sgt. Patterson, along with our JROTC Cadets, hosted a Veterans Day program during the third block. They brought in two guest speakers. Our own Jacob Rogers and Naahar Stallard spoke to our students about the Army and the hard work and dedication of our service people. We want to thank all veterans, past, present, and future, for their service to our country each day.

Our Junior class received a reward movie last Tuesday Nov 4th for having the highest attendance of any class at the high school during the 2nd half of the first nine weeks .
