The 2025 JCHS Generals Football team is scheduled to begin its regular season this weekend! The two teams have met each year since 2013. The Generals have won 10 games and only lost once (26-27 in 2014). The Generals have a new coach this year and there is a great deal of excitement surrounding the program. After the unexpected departure of the previous coach, Coach Bo Callebs has used the limited time available to prepare his team. The team has scrimmaged against top teams in the region and put in the time on the grid and in the weight room.
Coach Callebs brings an incredible resume to the table as the new Generals Head Coach! Coach Callebs has over 30 years of coaching experience. He has coached at some of the premier programs in the state. Coach Callebs coached for 12 years at Bell County, 5 years at Lynn Camp, and 5 years at Pineville. He has served as Head Coach for Cawood High School. He has coached teams that have won two (2) KHSAA State Championships, along with teams that have won eight (8) Regional Championships (7 with Bell County & 1 with Lynn Camp). Coach Callebs reported that his goal this year is to win every single game, win the District, and host a Home Playoff game. “To win, you have to set that as your goal,” Coach Callebs said. He said he plans for his team to run the ball a lot, but also use low-risk passing as an integral part of the offense.
The Generals are considered to be in Class 2A, District 6. Other schools in this District include Breathitt County, Morgan County, and West Carter.
According to the KHSAA website, the roster for the team is as follows: Ashton Clemons (Sr), Gage Curtis (Sr), Carmen Day (Sr), Wyatt Dunn (So), Joseph Gast (So), Hunter Gonzalez (So), Kristian Graves (Sr), Conner Harrison (So), Andrew Isaacs (So), Jacob Jones (So), Landon Murphy (Sr), Gavin Nolasco (So), Juan Rivera (Jr), Deegan Schlenk (Jr), Davin Seals (Jr), Lucas Turner (So), Maddox Vaughn (So), Devin Weaver (So), and Rylen Wilson (So).
