Judge's Report

Posted

This is Judge Paul Hays, sharing information for public awareness to the citizens of Jackson County.

Initially, our office has been focused on our annual budget preparation and submission. We are pleased with the positive efforts and are well on our way to complete the end of the fiscal year submissions. Audits are in process for the years 2024 and 2025.
On Thursday June 11th at 4:00 PM , we are having the regular Fiscal Court meeting to open bids for the old jail facility renovations titled Incubator Project. We also open bids for old courthouse building improvements. We will also update the public on the ongoing Sportsplex development.

I have temporarily assigned an employee to make contact with individuals with significant unpaid garbage bills. Our county can not continue to pick up garbage from homes that are not paying their bills. We may be forced to contact our County Attorney to seek a solution for those who do not comply. Please help us all out and pay your garbage fees.

We have entered into a partnership with the Sheriff's Office, the Jackson County UNITE Coalition, the Jackson County Board of Education and the Fiscal Court to provide a drug education program (Too Good For Drugs) the UNITE anti-drug initiatives, taught by a uniform officer. The program places an additional officer in schools and increases education opportunities for our students. This program is paid for by Drug Abatement funds through the Jackson County Fiscal Court.

The Backroads Rally is scheduled to take place on July 26, 2026.

I have contacted Humfleet Appraisals to obtain a certified appraisal regarding the industrial kitchen property in Annville. We are in the process of selling that property . Several local individuals expressed interest in the purchase of that property.

We are working with a Beautify Bluegrass Team, consisting of Jackson Energy, PRTC, Praxel and others to make significant renovations to Worthington Park in Annville. These improvements will be at no cost to the Fiscal Court. We appreciate the outstanding improvements to Jackson County.

We are working every day at the Judge Executive Office to improve our county. Many of the issues have already been addressed and we are working every day to make Jackson County a place to which we can be proud. We continue to ask for your support and your prayers.

God bless!
