Leon Vickers was born on July 30, 1947, to Dorcie and Balmer Hurst Vickers in Jackson County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, December 09, 2023 at his residence in Annville, KY, being 76 years of age. Leon had a love for trucking and owned several trucks of his own, as well as working for trucking companies such as Overnite and Watkins. He continued to travel after retiring from trucking; his favorite direction always being west. He had a love for trading and had car lots at different times throughout his life; his motto being, “Don’t walk, let’s talk.” His love for people included trips to the local restaurants to “drink a cup” and engage conversation with anyone available to talk. Basically, he enjoyed life and loved people. However, his greatest love was his family, of whom he always made sure to tell, “ I love you biggy bunches and it’s still growing”. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Claudette Cook Vickers; two daughters, Tina (Kevin) Huff and Angie (Ryan) Estridge, both of Annville, KY; four grandchildren, Morgan Lakes, Tommy Huff, Austin and Alyssa Estridge; one great-granddaughter, Kendall Lakes; two sisters, Wanda Wilson of Berea, KY and Velma Bales of Tyner, KY; two brothers, Donnie Vickers of Richmond, IN and Paul Vickers of Milton, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by an infant brother and a nephew; Clayton Paul Vickers.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:00 am at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee, KY. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Lakes Funeral Home in McKee, KY with Bro. Bernard Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Flannery Cemetery in Tyner, KY. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
