Jackson Energy members living in Jackson County District #2 have a new representative serving them on the board. Jason McCowan was recently selected by the Jackson Energy Board of Directors to fill the remaining term of former director Jim Hays III.
McCowan is a lifelong resident of Jackson County and is proud to serve the community he has always called home. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), with minors in Geology and Mathematics.
Following graduation, McCowan began his professional career in the private sector as a Design Engineer with Hitachi Automotive Products in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, where he worked for approximately two years. He later transitioned into education and public service, joining the Jackson County Board of Education, where he continues to teach today.
After entering the education profession, he earned his teaching certification from Union College and went on to complete both his master’s degree and Rank I in education.
McCowan and his wife, Pam, are the proud parents of two children. Their son, Adam, serves as a Submarine Officer, and their daughter, Abigail, is pursuing a degree in pre-dentistry.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, McCowan is an active member of Greenhill Baptist Church and enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
McCowan is honored to serve on the Jackson Energy Cooperative Board of Directors, representing the members of District 2 in Jackson County.
He is committed to listening to the needs of the membership, providing thoughtful leadership and helping ensure the cooperative continues to deliver safe, reliable and affordable electric service. He believes in the cooperative principle of serving members first and remains dedicated to making decisions that strengthen Jackson Energy and the communities it serves for generations to come.
