Aaron Michael Bowles, 25, of McKee, KY, appeared before Judge Henria Bailey-Lewis in District Court on Monday (December 01, 2025) for a pretrial conference in Case #25-F-00006.
Bowles was arrested by Officer Zander Elam (MPD Badge #304) on January 30, 2025. Officer Elam arrested Bowles while executing complaint warrant #E05510004920824. Officer Elam obtained the complaint warrant earlier on the same day as the arrest.
In the complaint, Officer Elam alleges that on January 24, 2025, Bowles entered Island City Liquor in McKee, KY, knowing he had been ordered in a conditional discharge agreement (District Court Case #23-M-00205) not to be on the property and business of Island City Liquor. In addition, Officer Elam alleges that Bowles was complicit in the theft of one (1) bottle of Christian Brothers Brandy (value of $12.99) and one (1) bottle of Mt. Dew (value of $1.43) when he assisted a minor to shoplift the items as mentioned above.
Bowles was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Detention Center, where he was booked and charged with burglary in the third degree and unlawful transaction with a minor in the third degree. He was held in custody under a $2,500 bond (10% cash) while awaiting his first court appearance. This bond was posted on February 10, 2025.
Bowles had already appeared before Judge Allen B. Roberts in District Court on Monday, February 03rd, 2025, for an arraignment. The case was assigned #25-F-00006. Bowles entered a plea of “not guilty” to all charges. A preliminary hearing was held on February 10, 2025 which sent the case to a Grand Jury for consideration. A Grand Jury indictment was returned on April 01, 2025 that modified the burglary charge to a charge of theft by unlawful taking or shoplifting.
At the pretrial conference on Monday, Bowles changed his plea to guilty for both charges. The court found the plea was knowledgeable, informed, and voluntary. Bowles was sentenced to 365 days in jail. The sentence was allowed to be served as a conditional discharge for two years.
