Medicaid Reality Check: A Healthcare Listening Tour

Posted

The Kentucky House Democratic Caucus and Kentucky Senate Democratic Caucus will host a Medicaid listening tour beginning Sept. 10 in Lexington.

The first stop of “Medicaid Reality Check: A Health Care Listening Tour” will take place Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road in Lexington. The tour will continue Sept. 17 in Prestonsburg, Sept. 22 in Morehead and Oct. 1 in Louisville.

All events are free and open to everyone.

According to a news release, the tour is intended to give Kentuckians a chance to tell lawmakers directly how Medicaid affects them, their families, their patients and their communities as changes to the program approach, including new community engagement/work requirements for some recipients and more frequent eligibility reviews.

“What we learn on this tour will help us understand what these changes actually mean for Kentuckians,” said Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Reginald Thomas of Lexington. “If someone is at risk of losing coverage, struggling to get care or worried about services they depend on, we need to hear from them. Their experiences should help guide how Kentucky responds.”
