Patty Jean King, 52, departed this earth on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at UK Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Patty was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, born May 4, 1974, daughter of the late Elmer Murphy and the late Delma Abner Murphy. Patty was a member of the holiness faith and a prayer warrior.

She was a very talented piano player and vocalist who loved to sing and perform for the community with her dear sister Joyce Gabbard Harrison and other family members. Patty loved spending time with her husband and son, Buck and Austin, whom she loved with all of her heart and soul, and cherished the time she spent with all of her family. She enjoyed being at the ocean and was very adventurous, often going on road trips to see all the beautiful sights of GOD’s creation.

Survivors include her husband, Buck King, her son, Austin (Madison) King, three stepchildren, Lance King, Samantha Sizemore, and Chad (Bridjette) King; her siblings, Joyce (James) Harrison and Sue (William) Ballard as well as a host of relatives and close friends. In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by 1 brother, Bruce (Red George) Gabbard, 2 sisters, Faye Flannery, Joanie Spivey, and 1 half-brother, Famous Murphy.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Tuesday at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with Brother Mark Horn officiating. Burial to follow in the Abner Cemetery. Lakes Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
