Ronald Wayne Gay, better known as Ronnie, was born August 26, 1948, in Berea, KY and departed this life Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at his residence in McKee at the age of 77. He was the youngest son of the late William “Bill” Gay and Sarah (Baker) Gay.
Ronnie is survived by three children, Bryon Gay of Louisville, KY, Veronica Gay Venable and her husband Scott of Maryville, TN and Chris Gay and his wife Kate of McKee, KY. He is also survived by two siblings, Frank Gay of Connersville, IN and Bonnie Gay Christensen of Nevada. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Sydney Nichole (Venable) Smith and Brennon Scott Venable, along with his great grandchildren, Reign Rivers Smith, Raury Venable, Fia Ruth Venable, and baby boy Smith on the way. He also had a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was also preceded in death by the following siblings, James Gay, Forest Gay, William “Dude” Gay Jr., John D. Gay, Elzie Gay, Veron Harrison, Lawrence Gay, Mary Debski, Margaret Gay, and Effie Gay.
Ronnie retired after serving 28 years as Kentucky State Police. After retiring he also served as Jackson County Trial Commissioner. He was a member of the Birch Lick Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial to follow in the Boggs & Gay Cemetery.
