MANCHESTER, Ky. (April 1, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 advises motorists of upcoming roadway improvement work at the intersection of U.S. 421 and KY 3443, located in the Egypt community (east of Annville and south of Tyner) of Jackson County.
The project will involve grading and drainage improvements to address safety concerns at the intersection. Work includes correcting the approach elevation of KY 3443 to U.S. 421, widening the roadway, and improving sight distance for motorists.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 6 with an anticipated completion date of Sunday, November 1, 2026.
During construction:
- Lane closures will occur on U.S. 421, beginning with the northbound lane within project limits
- Traffic control will include barrels, message boards, and flagging operations as needed
- Motorists should expect delays and watch for changing traffic patterns
- Work hours will be daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Initial work will include removing the existing bank along the northbound side of U.S. 421 before roadway widening begins.
Motorists are urged to:
- Watch for trucks entering and exiting the roadway
- Allow extra travel time
Motorists should expect delays, use caution while traveling through the work zone, and be alert for workers and equipment.
