Young Jackson County Entrepreneur Seeks to Bring Awareness to School Violence

Kendal is a strong, dedicated and determined young woman. Four years ago Kendal developed a disability due to school violence. Kendal was brutally attacked by a school bully and this has altered and continues to affects every bit of her daily life. As Kendal continues to fight every day, she is determined to complete all of her dreams and goals. Unable to continue in a “normal school” setting, she found a program where she started 9th grade and college at the same time at just 14 years old. At 15 years old she graduated High School in the state of Massachusetts.

The family moved to Annville KY. Kendal, now 16, has started a Farm Stand on our farm (Fox River Family Farm), while she continues her college education on-line. (Post University in CT) Kendal’s Farm Stand sells all homemade or homegrown items. These include candles, soaps, tumblers, vegetables, baked goods and crafts.

Kendal’s goal is to bring awareness to school violence and bullying. In addition, Kendal hopes to use the revenue from the Farm Stand to purchase a Service Dog so she can transfer to a University here in KY. Her top choices are University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. She is studying Equine Studies. Kendal’s disability at this point requires a level of assistance she needs while navigating an in-person college that a service animal would greatly provide.

One of the mantra’s while building our economy is “Buy Local”! It is also true that a community should support its youth when they are trying hard to support themselves. Kendal is trying her best to overcome hardships she did not ask for and could use our assistance.
